
Bellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young born on February 19, 1970)[1She is an American actress, producer and performer, most well-known for her portrayal of Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama series Scandal (2012-2018). She received the Critics' Choice Television Award for Outstanding Supporting actor in the Drama Series in 2014. In addition, she appeared as a star in the Fox series Prodigal Son (1919-2021). Young's acting journey began in theatre. In 1997 she had her Broadway debut as Mary in the first cast of The Life. [8][9] Her Off-Broadway appearances include in Stephen Sondheim's We Rock Along (1994) and Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). The year 1995 was the year she made her television debut on a recurring character on the NBC daytime soap opera Another World as Dr. Courtney Evans. In two episodes, she appeared on Law & Order, 1997 and 1998. She made her movie debut in 1999 in a minor role in Black and White, a crime-drama. Later she starred in several independent films. She began guest-starring on a range of dramas on TV and comedy series in the early 2000s. These comprised The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. From 2000 to in 2011, Young made over 30 guest appearances on television shows.
